Seychelles facts about importing vehicles

You are only allowed to import new vehicles. You must have a certain amount of money in foreign exchange to be able to import the vehicle.

Seychelles Duties

Import tax on single and Extra/ Mega cab vehicles is 25% plus 12.5% VAT, for the double (twin) cab options the duty has now climbed to 225% (yes 225% no typo error!) + 12.5% VAT. Since the new duty structure has come into effect the user demand has naturally shifted towards single cab and extra cab Toyota Hilux Vigo and extra Cab Toyota Hilux Vigo as well as extra cab Nissan Navara and extra cab Isuzu Dmax.

Registration and Road Tax

All new vehicles must be tested at the vehicle testing station before obtaining registration plates and certificates.

The cost of annual road tax (registration) is based on the engine capacity of your vehicle. The higher the engine capacity the higher the tax. You pay Seychelles Rupee 1300 for a 1300 cc vehicle and then it goes higher from then on. You should also obtain insurance prior to your registration.
